We are pleased to feature SCTA member, Morphis, Inc, and its President & CTO, Alif Rahman, in this month’s member spotlight.
Q: How does your company work within the cash industry?
A: Morphis develops and publishes a suite of software platforms specifically focused on cash logistics. We cover all aspects of the cash supply chain, beginning with the Mint and ending with the coins redeemed by children at those machines in grocery stores or bank branches. In the middle are those places you never think of unless you happen to see an armored car parked out front. Cash, including both notes and coins, moves back-and-forth incessantly from the Federal Reserve via the secured transportation industry, out to local bank branches, ATMs, retailers, and even that coin redemption machine; Morphis touches them all. Morphis software truly has the entire currency supply chain covered.
Q: What is the one thing you want other SCTA member organizations to know about your company?
A: Morphis is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. These many years of experience allow us to bring a deep fundamental knowledge of the currency supply chain industry to all of our clients and their clients. Our goal is to provide a seamless real-time transfer of information across all the verticals – banking, retail, secure cash transportation of the global currency supply chain.
Q: What drew your organization to become a member of the SCTA?
A: Several of our customers are founding members of SCTA, and many of our customers are members. SCTA provides us an excellent venue to meet and interact with the industry.
Q: What are the biggest changes you expect in the future of the cash industry? Why?
A: GS1 and Cash Visibility is the biggest change EVER in the cash industry. Originally termed eManifest, this new system will virtually eliminate the paper records used today. The result of this will be an all-new level of speed, accuracy and transparency across the industry.
Q: What is an exciting development in the industry you’ve recently seen? What excites you about it?
A: Hands down it is the Fed Cash Visibility Initiative. This standardization of processes across the industry will result in electronic manifests, real-time track-and-trace capability down to the strap.
Q: What are the biggest challenges the cash industry will face in the next 1-3 years? Why?
A: Moving from paper, Microsoft Excel, and other outdated systems to a modern, cohesive technological solution that meets the expanding demands of the CIT customer base. Another big challenge and change will be the new Fed Cash Visibility Initiative goals. This program will push the secured transportation industry to the next level. Morphis wants to make this easy.
